Love is in the air! Valentine’s day food and fashion

Hello lovers! Valentine’s day is around the corner, and whether you are single or taken, every girl deserves to celebrate Cupid’s holiday in style.  V-day is extra special for me, as it happens to also be my mama’s birthday.  I may have not inherited my mother’s cake and pie baking skills, (among many other domestic talents of hers!), but I am thankful to be a mini version of my mom when it comes to love. Love is everything! Today I am serving up Chicago dining suggestions, with a side of style of course.

My hubby and I are typically the impulsive type when it comes to date night, so our method often rolls like, let’s surf open table and see what’s available.  Open table is a great online service where you can quickly make a dinner reservation….without talking to anyone! Woot! Open table offers a variety of fun Valentine’s Day specialswho doesn’t love a great tasting menu? My rocker husband’s picks would be for the love of tacos party at Taco Joint, or the fajita and big slushy style drink jam at Uncle Julio’s (what he calls his “white boy mexican food” fix)!  These both would be great options for singles looking for a low-key yet delicious meal. Dress casual chic, you never know where the night could lead!  I recommend a fitted t-shirt with an “I don’t take myself too seriously message,” your hottest pair of skinny jeans, and a pair of fun heels.  If you are not a goofy tee kinda gal, rock a fitted sweater or top, with jeans and heels.

For single babes more interested in potential boyfriend shopping than guacamole, I recommend Untitled for a more upbeat scene, complete with a live DJ and vintage burlesque dancers.  Three Dots and a Dash is another fun option; nothing says love like a tropical drink in a glass skull!  For you singles looking to mingle, I recommend changing that t-shirt to your favorite hot girl tank or bodysuit, fitted jeans, over the knee boots, and a great bomber jacket.

Girlfriend status, or all wifed up?  I recommend taking the lead, and the pressure off your boo, by making a reservation at y’alls favorite date spot. There’s something romantic about a place you have shared great memories at as a couple.  My husband and I’s favorite date night is always RPM Italian.  It is chic and sophisticated enough I feel comfortable getting glammed up, but is still warm and cozy.  Other fun date spots I recommend are Nico Osteria, Sunda, Bohemian House, and Bavette’s Bar and Boeuf.  My favorite Chi town boutiques to score smokin date night outfits are Mulberry in Me, for the more conservative chic gal, and Elle & Val, for the edgier babe. Good ol faithful Akira always has something affordable and fun for everyone.  If online shopping is more your speed, I recommend Shopbop for the classic gal, and Revolve clothing for the party girl.  My favorite designer for special occasion dates is the Los Angeles line, For Love and Lemons.  Their styles are so unique and feminine.  Sizing can vary a bit, but their customer service line is great at guiding you to the perfect fit in different styles.  Here’s a few of my favorite For Love of Lemons dresses I have rocked!
