Current Makeup and Skincare Crushes

Deep deep thoughts coming at y’all…anyone else ever suffer from a makeup rut? As in a painfully long stretch of time, in which you toss on the same ol’ brown eyeshadow jams every single time you make yourself over? Been there. Over that.  Friendly reminder that being a girl is bomb, and getting your glam on should always be a gosh darn good time. But the reality is, we are so often in a hurry, it’s very easy to stick with a standard makeup routine. I suggest making Saturday or Sunday, or whatever day allows your schedule the most free time, your glam day.  Allow yourself plenty of time to experiment, pour a glass of bubbles, crank up your favorite jams, and enjoy the creative process of getting pretty.  Being a girl rules…have fun with it!

Before the cosmetic party begins, it’s critical we have the best canvas possible to work with.  I highly recommend treating yourself to this limited edition Dermalogica set from Ulta beauty.  60 dollars in products is a bargain at 22 bucks. This set includes Dermalogica’s pre cleanse balm and best selling cleansing gel.  The double cleanse leaves your skin feeling so wonderfully clean!  Side note, this set was created in collaboration with JoJo Fletcher and Becca Tilley…if you are a fellow member of Bachelor Nation you recognize these beyond bombshell beauties names!

Once your face is squeaky clean, it’s time to get your mask on.  I will admit it was the name Disco Kitty  that first brought my attention to this peel-off brightening mask, but it happens to live up to its amazing name! Pearl powder gently exfoliates skin to brighten the complexion, while Diamond Powder boosts elasticity and removes impurities to the skin.  Also…it feels amazingly refreshing and cooling on your skin. I’ve tried plenty of peel off masks that actually royally suck to peel off…not this gem.  It indeed peels off in one easy (and fun) swoop!

And now finally we are onto the really fun stuff…the makeup:)  I have finally found the holy grail of concealers…Tarte double duty beauty shape contour concealer. The name is oh so long because it does oh so many things! You can only find this bad boy at Ulta Beauty.  The formula is hydrating, long wearing, sculpts, highlights, AND softens the look of pores and fine lines.  A little goes a long way too.  Blend just a couple dots in to make a crazy difference.  Cherry on top…this miracle product is cruelty free!

I was first interested in trying the brand Dose of Colors because it is also a cruelty free line.  Turns out it is AH-mazing!  I adore the marvelous mauves eyeshadow palette for those of you suffering from that dreadful makeup rut I mentioned earlier.  This palette is perfect for y’all because the pink and purple shades are fun without being too wild, and easy to blend and work with if you are an eyeshadow beginner.  I also believe the colors to be universally flattering and feminine.  I am a crazy critique of lip stains (because it’s my favorite product and I have wasted an embarrassing amount of money trying different ones), and the Dose of Colors liquid lipstick is perfect! Highly pigmented, weightless, easy to apply, lasts all day…I could keep going, but you get it.  I am wearing the shade Campfire, and it’s the perfect everyday neutral shade.

For any of my regular readers (HI MOM!), you may have noticed I am focusing more on skincare and beauty lately.  As much as I love my fashion, I believe this to be more my area of “expertise.” As always…any requests or suggestions are welcome and greatly appreciated!
