Eyes to Mesmerize…A round-up of makeup must haves!

Hi loves!  I am taking a step away from cute clothes today, to chat about an equally important topic, makeup.  Make-up is an amazingly fun tool, that is not meant to change us, but rather enhance our existing beauty. That said, it is so easy to fall into a makeup rut.  Tragically enough, I recently found myself in one. Thankfully I found the 2 key ingredients that dug me out of that deep hole…bold brows, and glitter!

Eyebrows are the one thing you can get into shape without exercising.  A strong brow frames the face, and makes your eyes pop, with or without additional makeup.  If you are looking to take your brow game to the next level, I highly recommend taking the microblading plunge.  Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic treatment, that fills in sparse eyebrows.  In other words, it’s a brow game changer, that means waking up with bombshell brows, no products needed.  A beauty investment well worth taking!  Because microblading is an investment, and rather intensive, it’s critical you find a highly recommended artist.  Lucky for y’all, I’m sharing my brow queen with you!  Eyebrow guru Alyssa Bingham will whip your brows into shape, in the cozy comforts of her Roscoe Village private studio.  Alyssa takes careful time tailoring your brow’s, to best flatter your face before beginning her work. Whether you want to redefine your arch or create a full bold look, Alyssa will find the most complimentary look for you.  Check out her website  for more information on microblading.  Book an appointment by emailing her at  Added bonus…Alyssa has generously offered the code XOXO Julz Chez for 20 percent off your service! Holla! Tell your brows I said you’re welcome:)

glitter eyes

I have linked all the products I used to create this look below. Note the glitter products both came from Amazon, and are very inexpensive.

Once your brows are on point, it’s onto the eyes.  Especially when working with glitter, always start with the eyes, before applying any foundation or face makeup.  The glitter will sprinkle down your face, so it’s important you do not waste your time with foundation and face makeup, as you will need to clean the excess glitter off your face, after completing the eyes. Begin by priming the eyes, to ensure the look lasts as long as possible. My choice is Urban Decay primer potionNext, apply your favorite neutral eyeshadow, for a base color. My favorite new palette of shadows is the Starlet by Marc Jacobs.  The colors in this palette are beautiful, and highly pigmented.  Added bonus, gorgeous packaging (I’m such a sucker). Next you lightly coat your eyes with glitter glue.  Wait about 15 seconds, and use a good old faithful q-tip, to add as much glitter as you please.  Kat Von D tattoo liner seals the deal, with a smoldering cat eye.  This look is all about drama, so I recommend going big with the lashes, and rocking falsies.  My pick are Ardell Glamour Wispies.  When the party is over, Cetaphil gentle makeup remover is your best friend:)
eye makeupMy favorite new foundation is by It cosmetics, in shade medium.  I love that it provides full coverage, and is SPF 50!  My go to blush palette is by Butter London in just darling, the prettiest bronze and pink colors.

Photos by Olivia Szwarc. It takes a special friend to photograph your lipstick…love her!

Last but not least, lips!  With the bold eyes I have been feeling a more subtle lip, with the help of Clinique’s chubby stick moisturizing lip balm, and I love the result. I am also a big fan of Cliniques pep start moisturizer for all day hydration, and protection from the sun.

I have found the key to makeup success is experimenting.  Allowing your usual 15-20 minutes to try out a new look is a recipe for disaster, and will lead to going with the same ol’ routine every time.  So when a Saturday girls night comes around next, allow yourself as much time as possible.  Pour yourself a little cocktail of your choice, blast your favorite pump up jams, and get your glitter on.  Being a girl rocks…enjoy it;)
