I have always loved Halloween…what’s not to love about a holiday devoted to dressing extra outrageous?! Halloween for me has taken on a new life since my Love and I met. If you know me at all, you know my husband loves the band KISS. And when I say love, I mean LOVE…our basement is basically a KISS museum. His 4th grade school picture is framed in our home, where he is grinning ear to ear in a KISS t-shirt. Not much has changed. His passion is undeniable, and my family and close friends quickly warmed up to it. A couple examples are; my mom once made KISS inspired baked goodies, and my best friend proudly captured a photo the first time her baby girl stuck her tongue out like Gene Simmons. Every Halloween, my man excitedly transforms himself into his rock n roll idol, Paul Stanley. Our first Halloween together I was blown away. People on the street honking and cheering, party patrons of all ages going wild, our Indian cab driver even requested a photo with him at 4am! This year the game was cranked up to the next level. The man had rock shows booked both Friday and Saturday night, and performed for the first time ever as his number one icon. This made his Mother in law very nervous for his safety, as the outfit involves 7 inch high leather heels, and his stage performance involves David Lee Roth inspired split jumps, Mick Jagger inspired dance grooves and, of course, Paul Stanley’s iconic presence. Both shows were a smash success, and I could not have been more proud of my Motley Jew.
Halloween is one day of the year where I will never stand a chance of outdressing my husband. So my approach has been to dress myself like his perfect little accessory. This year, I decided to be a version of my favorite furry creature, our cat Blackie. A black turtleneck, black yoga shorts, and a big black belt to give the illusion of a one piece. Cat ears, paws, and a tail from trusty Party City, and I’m almost ready for under $10 dollars. Until I decided it was the perfect time to purchase the Stuart Weitzman All Legs black boots I have been drooling over. Bye bye miss practical. But I stand by my motto of, if you LOVE it, buy it. Best boots ever.
For night two I rolled super groupie style with a KISS star. Having your husband do your makeup is hilarious! And on the flipside, applying makeup to your husband is hilarious!
Here’s a couple of my favorite KISS flashbacks!
I hope everyone had a rockin Halloween weekend!
